Kristy’s Story

I think everyone has had a pet who changes their life in some significant way. For me, it was Coco, a homeless brown tabby who used to roam the streets of our neighborhood.  Coco would keep me company while I gardened and I could always count on him stopping by to visit every day. It didn’t take long before Coco moved into my home and my heart permanently. He became quite the presence in our neighborhood. Everyone in the subdivision knew Coco and affectionately called him the “Mayor of the Street”.

Coco, my wandering stray tabby, was my very first cat.  He died on August 3, 2006, at the ripe age of twenty-one!  He gave me something I had been missing my entire life, the deep and rich companionship of a cat.  Coco opened my eyes to a new world, and since then, it’s been my mission to provide that same comfort and love to others.  He was the catalyst to save cats and eventually start my own cat rescue.

Rescuing cats has been my passion for over 20 years.  Every homeless cat and kitten saved has been a part of Coco’s legacy.  Seeing at-risk cats blossom from the time we first rescue them and as they begin receiving appropriate medical care, kindness from our volunteers, and finally a great forever family is such a heartwarming experience. It is an experience like no other and it makes it all worthwhile!  Over the years I have loved many cats and saved thousands. I could not imagine my home without a cat and I could not imagine my life without All About Cats!
